AMERICAN CEMETERY OMAHA BEACH NORMANDY
This was sent to me by a dear friend Mark Wolfe. His message was so passionate, I couldn’t stop myself from reading more of the history.
The cemetery is located on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach (one of the landing beaches of the Normandy Invasion) and the English Channel. Only some of the soldiers who died overseas are buried here. When it came time for a permanent burial, the next of kin eligible to make decisions were asked if they wanted their loved ones repatriated for permanent burial in the U.S., or interred at the closest overseas cemetery.
Normandy American Cemetery sits on a cliff overlooking Omaha Beach and the English Channel, east of St. Laurent-sur-Mer and northwest of Bayeux in Colleville-sur-Mer, 170 miles west of Paris. http://www.abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/no.php

Filled with the ‘Rich and Famous, Poets and…just amazing people. The Statues and Monuments are simply captivating. BONAVENTURE CEMETERY Savannah Georgia http://www.bonaventurecemeterytours.com/
Bonaventure is certainly one of the most famous and hauntingly beautiful. It has captured the imaginations of writers, poets, naturalists, photographers, and filmmakers. Part natural cathedral, part sculptural garden, Bonaventure transcends time. This Cemetery gave my husband and me a private tour, we were mesmerized by the experience – we bought a replica of the ‘Bird Girl. In this picture is ‘Gracie, please take time to follow the link above to read her story – it’s a special part of the ‘Bonaventure’s history.
Poet Conrad Aiken, Academy Award-winning lyricist Johnny Mercer, and Georgia’s first governor Edward Telfair are among those buried at Bonaventure. As death became more romanticized and ritualized during this period, cemeteries became lush, beautiful “cities of the dead.”
Westminster Abbey- London, England http://www.westminster-abbey.org/
London has an abundance of historical and beautiful cemeteries. My parents have had the pleasure of visiting the elaborate tombs at Westminster Abbey. The giant church is nearly 1000 years old and many of the great Kings and Queens of England have been coronated, married, and buried here, including Queen Elizabeth I. Great deals of other notables of English history are also buried here. My Mother’s favorite is the Poet’s Corner where you can find the graves of Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and many more.
